Somewhere in the last couple of months I started noticing that intermittently there is a really long SSL connection time on a couple of my servers.
The setup for this server:
- Apache 2.4.56 on Debian 11
- PHP-FPM 7.4.33
- mod_rewrite and mod_expires is turned on
In Chrome dev tools the symptoms are that the SSL connection and initial connection are the same amount of time. I've included two screenshots, the first one is when it goes "wrong" and the second one is a more expected response.long SSL timeregular performance
All of this happens every now and then, in the last couple of days more often. I've looked in the logs and it seems like nothing is happening. In either the apache log, or the FPM log I can't find any trace of an issue. There are 1.7 million lines in the access log for yesterday. It might have something to do with a high request count.
If anyone needs any more info, please ask, I don't know where to look for the solution anymore.
